Networking Leads is excited to welcome its new members Esteban Garces and Michelle Prieto from Mi Familia Vota.
This Wednesday, Networking Leads had the opportunity of having lunch with Esteban and Michelle along with several other attorneys to discuss how Mi Familia Vota educates and brings awareness to immigrants in Florida and other parts of the country.
Networking Leads will help Mi Famila Vota in educating the community about their rights.
In case you are not familiar with Mi Familia Vota Education Fund (MFVEF), Michelle sent us the following information about her organization: MFVEF is a national non-partisan, 501 (c3) non-profit organization working to unite the Latino community and its allies to promote social and economic justice through increased civic participation.
MFVEF is working toward a future in which the electorate is energized and empowered, and reflective of the growing diversity in the United States. We work with community based, educational, religious, labor, and other organizations that seek to build civically cognizant and active neighborhoods. This year because of the fear and uncertainty of our community, we have taken an advocacy role and are focused on making sure our community has access to the resources and information they need to be protected through know your rights trainings, citizenship workshops, immigration forums and more. In Tampa we, along with other community leaders and volunteers, have created a raid response plan in case of a large scale immigration raid in the area. This response plan is based on our experiences with large-scale raids and includes components of faith institutions, volunteers, and lawyers.
Our work along with our partners has helped move our region into a more welcoming space with elected officials that reflect our values. Because of this work we now have elected officials on record introducing positive pro immigrant legislation. We are recognizing these elected officials at our awards dinner and at the same time raising funds for our internship program. We hope you consider supporting our efforts!
Networking Leads…to educating the community.
